“Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” Ephesians 6: 13-17
Canada teeters in the balance between freedom and tyranny.
Australian and New Zealand have already been turned into Covid police states.
In the US, millions of school children are being catechized into the Marxist religion through Critical Race Theory while our pagan ruling class continues to ignore border security.
In Texas
Texans are losing their jobs on account of vile and immoral “vaccine” mandates
Hospitals practice despicable, Covid apartheid against children needing transplants
“Republicans” can’t seem to find the gumption to outlaw child mutilation aka “gender modification surgery”
Into this maw of demonic madness comes the most consequential Texas Primary season in our lifetimes. Coupled with the biennial shuffling of the deck through redistricting, God has ordained, perhaps, one more chance for those who believe in the Biblical worldview to advocate for truth, beauty and righteousness through the Texas political process.
The 2021 Redistricting special session of the Texas Legislature redrew State House District 52, shifting it from a 53% Democrat district to a 55% Republican district. This shift does tilt the district in the Republican’s favor, but there is still a need to field a competent, competitive campaign.
TL, DR;
We think either McGuinness or Schober would provide HD 52 with enough fight to push back on the Austin swamp and catalyze a movement of the people in the district to constructively engage the political process and righteously resist the spirit of the age.
We are not seeing that same “fire in the belly” from Harris or Jarrin. Jarrin also has the baggage of his squishy, former boss, Sen. Charles Schwertner, as well as a strong, GOP Establishment stench wafting from his donor list.
Patrick McGuiness
Three things jump out to us about Mr. McGuiness’ campaign:
It is almost entirely self-funded
He has the most substantive and thoughtful policy positions
He is the only candidate in this race who has previously run a State House campaign, losing to Mark Strama in the 2010 HD 50 race.
He loaned himself $400K to run this race…. wow, talk about commitment to the cause! This is beneficial because it should be more than enough of a war chest to match any challenger and he is not beholden to any GOP Establishment types or scam PACs.
If you want to challenge your thinking, sit down to read his policy positions web page. Mr. McGuinness would substantially raise the IQ of the Texas Legislature. For example, when describing CRT, he says:
“Dangerous ideological ‘curriculum’ based on Critical Race Theory is being brought into K-12, dividing students by race, imposing guilt upon guiltless children, and pitting students against one another.”
That’s possibly the most on-point description I’ve read about the left’s alternative catechism. This page also has the most compelling salvo against “vaccine” mandates of all the candidates and we like that this page uses the word “fight” eight times.
Mr. McGuinness has previously been in the fight, having a won a Primary and challenged a Democrat in a Dem-leaning district. Pour out a Guinness Stout for Mr. McGuinness for having the moxie to take the fight to the enemy, figuratively speaking.
Jonathan Schober
Mr. Schober is the only US military veteran in this race and we love this statement to the Austin American Statesman:
“I'm here because I'm the kind of guy that runs to the sounds of the guns and I truly believe that we've got great issues that are at risk, and I want to be a part of that grassroots group that goes to Austin and sets the policies and leadership in the right direction.”
“Runs to the sounds of the guns”… can you imagine being the lefty news editor who read that and had to allow it into the column. We love the feistiness here.
We also admire his remarkable ability to craft policy statements that are simultaneously substantive and brief: “The primary purpose of government is to protect the individual rights and freedoms of its citizens”. Pithy and to-the-point… an important trait for a movement public figure looking to move a harried and distracted people towards a common goal.
We’d like to see him have more than $7,200 in his campaign war chest, making him a distant fourth in fundraising in this race. However, he can probably staff up his campaign headquarters with his 7 children! But seriously, successfully raising 7 kids has got to tell you something about his ability to organize, discipline and instruct.
Nelson Jarrin
Mr. Jarrin’s endorsements and fundraising practically screams “Establishment Texas GOP”. His fundraising boasts over $22K in contributions for the period, including $16K from well-heeled, out of district contributors like GOP megadonor Robert Rowling. Mr. Jarrin is the erstwhile Legislative Director and General Counsel for Texas State Senator Charles Schwertner, who has been a colossal disappointment through Covid Facism. We are aware of more than one constituent letter sent to Sen. Schwertner imploring him use his unique platform as a Texas State Senator and a physician to advocate for legislation protecting Texans’ bodily autonomy, medical privacy and employment freedom. His response includes the following, milquetoast blandishments:
“There are several bills filed during this called special session pertaining to vaccine mandates… Should I have the opportunity to hear debate on these bills on the Senate floor during the called special session, I will certainly keep your thoughts in mind.”
That’s a pretty far cry from Col William B. Travis’ “Victory or Death” declaration at the Alamo. It seems Sen. Schwertner just can’t be bothered to help save the jobs of his voters or the integrity of his own profession. It is a pity he is running unopposed in the primary.
While Mr. Jarrin was smart enough to sign up for the Texans for Vaccine Choice pledge, his tepid policy position on this issue and association with the Republican squishes who got us into this mess make it hard for us to see how he will take the fight to Covidstan.
Caroline Harris
Let’s start with the positive aspects of this candidate. She has served for seven years as a policy advisor for State Senator Bryan Hughes, who has ranked second in the Young Conservative of Texas Senate rankings the last two sessions. She has also scored the biggest contribution in the race, $10K from Mays Middleton, who has been the highest ranking House member in YCT’s rankings the last, two regular sessions.
However, her campaign seems oblivious to the specter of Covid Facism, not even mentioning it on her campaign website and is the only HD 52 candidate who did not sign onto the Texans for Vaccine Choice pledge.
Furthermore, as the only female in the race, she is missing an opportunity to offer a unique and compelling perspective to the ongoing debacle of the Round Rock ISD Board of Trustees. From the RR ISD Superintendent pressuring his mistress to have an abortion, porn in school libraries, boys in girls dressing rooms and the literal persecution of parents speaking out at public hearings, her voice could be a valuable aid to the grassroots activists and female students in the fight. However, the topic is sadly absent from her campaign website.
We do not think Ms. Harris would be a bad legislator. We think she would be a good legislator…. for the year 2002. But, in 2022, we need warriors and people willing to take the fight to the demonic spirit of the age.
One other note on Mr. Jarrin and Ms. Harris: Our sources report that neither have been sighted at any True Texas Project - Williamson County chapter meetings nor have they sent any proxies to speak in their stead.
